This artwork was originally commissioned by the Bon Secours Health System to commemorate a significant chapter in their history: their move from Barringtons Hospital to their new state-of-the-art hospital in Limerick. Created as both a celebration and a farewell, the illustration honours the building and the surrounding community captured within it that served as home to generations of healthcare professionals, patients and families.

Hand drawn by Mary O'Sullivan using pencil and ink, the illustration was created over many hours with meticulous attention to detail, capturing the architectural character and heritage of this iconic Limerick landmark. Through every line and pen stroke, the artwork pays tribute not only to the building itself, but to the people who brought it to life through their care, dedication and service to the community.
